The build program on the M42 motorway required traffic management to a busy 3 lane motorway.

Berry Industries carried out a number of packages to completion including a comprehensive concrete package, as well as Earthwork’s and Groundworks.

The M42 contract has a rigid concrete pavement. The pavement is reinforced concrete 300mm thick with transverse joints at 5m intervals and a longitudinal joint down the middle of both carriageways. The concrete pavement was slip-formed using a paver incorporating a device which automatically placed the contraction joint dowel bars into the fresh concrete while the paver was moving forward.
