Construction work began in late June 2002. The first phase will provided 12 new classrooms to be erected inside an existing quadrangle, which took place during the 2002 summer vacation, employing the latest construction techniques New vehicular and pedestrian entrances and car parking were installed, and the school is to provide funding for a new music suite and covered atrium. A new classroom block for the Specialist Language College, Sixth Form and library was completed together with new Sports Hall and changing facilities. The final phase, which was due for completion in October 2003, saw the entire existing building refurbished. Detailed Design development is continuing in a number of curriculum areas.
